40+ Years Côte d'Azur Passion

Felix Walter in Gourdon

Your Guide: Felix Walter

For over 40 years I've been coming to the Côte d'Azur several times a year – through my parents, who now live here. This region has become my second home.

As a road cyclist and triathlete, I know every bend, every climb and the best routes for every level. Just as important: I know the people here, the authentic restaurants and the spots off the tourist trail.

My vision: To bring you closer to the most beautiful road cycling routes and the lifestyle of the Côte d'Azur – personally, authentically and with pleasant support.

I'm personally on-site during the trips, always available and ride along myself. This isn't an anonymous travel package – it's like a week with friends who happen to know the best road cycling spots! 😊

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know at a glance – so you're perfectly prepared!

You'll need a certain base fitness level – but don't worry, you don't have to be a pro! 😊

As a guide: if you can ride 40–50 km with around 700m of elevation gain – and happily do that several days in a row – then you're exactly who we're looking for. The Côte d'Azur is hilly by nature, and that's a big part of its charm!

Of course, taking a rest day is always an option – no problem at all. But if you're riding, you should feel comfortable at this level so that everyone can truly enjoy the week to the fullest.

Important: It's not about who gets to the top fastest. It's about the experience, the scenery, the breaks with sea views – and the shared stories at dinner!

Yes, definitely! The Côte d'Azur offers so much more than just cycling.

For non-cycling partners:

  • Morning market visits in Nice or Antibes
  • Hiking in the hills of Tourrettes-sur-Loup
  • Beach and sea (March is pleasantly mild!)
  • Museums and galleries (Fondation Maeght, Matisse Museum)
  • Relaxation at the beautiful B&B with pool and garden

We can organize transfers if needed. In the evening, everyone meets again at dinner – with different stories from the day!

The region is a dream for couples with different interests.

March is the absolute insider tip on the Côte d'Azur!

Temperatures:

  • Daytime: 15-18°C (feels warmer in the sun)
  • Morning: 8-12°C (long cycling pants + jacket)
  • Midday: T-shirt and shorts

Why March is so perfect:

  • Pro teams train here in winter
  • Few tourists → empty roads
  • Almond blossoms and first spring flowers
  • Perfect conditions for base training
  • Restaurants and cafés open but relaxed

Clothing: Layer system! A bit warmer in the morning, jacket gets stowed away at midday. After many years of experience in the region, I can say: March is ideal – not too hot, not too cold, simply perfect for cycling!

Absolutely not!

CYCLING AZUR is for enjoyers, not time chasers.

Yes, we ride on legendary Tour de France and Ironman Nice routes. But that doesn't mean you have to ride like a pro!

What makes our tours special:

  • Espresso stops at authentic cafés (not just gas stations)
  • Picnics with regional specialties
  • Time for photos at the most beautiful viewpoints
  • Conversations about cycling, the region, life
  • Dinners with local wines and good stories

You decide: Want to push hard? Great! Want to cruise and enjoy the views? Just as good!

I've been riding here for many years and know: The best memories aren't created on the stopwatch, but in the moments in between.

The tours are designed as self-guided groups – with maximum flexibility for everyone!

Here's how it works:

I personally accompany the more relaxed groups as a guide. Here I share my local experience, show the best stops, and tell stories about the region.

For sportier groups: You get perfectly designed GPS tracks for your cycling computer (Garmin, Wahoo, etc.). The routes are detailed with all important information about elevation, distance, and points of interest.

The best part: Every evening we discuss together how to organize the next day. Who wants to ride with me at a relaxed pace? Who wants the sporty variant? We adapt everything flexibly – depending on weather, fitness, and desire!

That's the advantage of small groups: We're not rigid but respond to your needs. Some days I ride with one group, sometimes with the other. You help decide!

Getting here is straightforward – Tourrettes-sur-Loup is centrally located on the Côte d'Azur.

Option 1: By plane

  • Nice Airport (NCE) → 30 min by car
  • Many flight options from European cities
  • Transfer from airport to accommodation available for a small fee

Option 2: By train

  • Nice or Cannes train station → 30-45 min by taxi
  • Night train from Germany possible (relaxed and eco-friendly!)
  • TGV connections from Paris
  • Transfer from train station to accommodation available for a small fee

Option 3: By car

  • Via France or through Switzerland and Italy, no problem
  • Parking available at the accommodation

Tip: I'll send you all travel details after booking. Many participants come from Southern Germany and often carpool!

Both options work!

Option 1: Bring your own bike (recommended)

  • You know your equipment
  • Perfectly adjusted to you
  • Transport: Plane (bike bag), car, or train

Option 2: Rent a bike

  • Premium carbon road bikes available from our partner rental
  • All sizes and frame types
  • Convenient: Bikes are delivered directly to the accommodation when you book with our partner
  • → Visit partner rental

My tip: If possible, bring your own bike. But if renting is more practical, we'll make it work – no problem! The tour should be stress-free for you, not complicated.

The good news: March on the Côte d'Azur is statistically very weather-stable!

The reality:

  • ~75% sunny days in March
  • Rain possible but usually brief
  • It rarely rains all day – we always find a window to ride!

Our Plan B in bad weather:

  • Shorter routes
  • Start later (wait for better weather)
  • Alternative indoor activities: Museums, relaxed day at the B&B

Important: I don't force anyone on the bike in heavy rain! We're flexible and adjust the program. That's the advantage of small groups – we decide together.

Equipment: Rain gear recommended (even though we hopefully won't need it).
